  • Installation: Flex Dek™ Installation:
    • Preparing the Surface where Flex Dek™ is to be applied:
      1. Remove any loose paint, glues, etc. from the surface,
      2. Remove all waxes and stains with the appropriate solvents or cleaners to assure best results,
      3. Clean the surface thoroughly with a good water based cleaner,
      4. Clean the surface with an Isopropyl Alcohol based cleaner,
      5. Allow the surface to dry.
    • Installation:
      1. Before you peel back the 3M™ adhesive backing paper, place the Flex Dek™ on the application surface (face up) to check for correct fit and to determine the exact location of the decking,
      2. Turn the Flex Deck™ over so that the adhesive is face up,
      3. Use a sharp knife to carefully cut the adhesive backing paper down the center at the shortest width, and be sure to completely cut throught the backing paper WITHOUT cutting the adhesive or foam,
      4. Now, peel back and fold the four corners of the paper backing,
      5. Turn the Flex Dek™ over and position it EXACTLY where you want it to be installed,
      6. Using the masking tape, tape one side of the backing in position on the application surface. Taping prevents the Flex Dek™ from moving while installing,
      7. Carefully lift up the side that is not taped down and pull up the folded corners to loosen the adhesive backing,
      8. From the center working toward the outer edges, slowly peel the rest of the paper backing while applying the Flex Dek™. Apply firm, even pressure over the decking (you may use a roller to help with this process),
      9. Do NOT pull or stretch the Flex Dek™.,
      10. Remove the masking tape from the other side of the Flex Dek™,
      11. From the center working toward the outer edges, slowly peel the last of the paper backing off while applying the Flex Dek™. Apply firm, even pressure over the decking,
      12. Firmly press down (roll) on all surfaces and edges of the decking for uniform adhesion,
      13. Full adhesion bond dwell time between deck and decking material takes 3 days to reach full cure. .

  • Maintenance and Care:
    • NORMAL CLEANUP: The best way to clean Flex Dek™ is with an mild all-purpose cleaner (or dish soap such as Dawn), warm water and a soft to medium stifflness (not too stiff) deck brush. Mix the cleaner with water and scrub gently. Rinse and repeat if necessary. For more stubborn stains, apply all-purpose cleaner (or dish soap) directly to the area and rinse.
    • TOUGH STAINS: To remove stains like fish blood, you may use diluted bleach (don't let it sit for a long period). Mix 1 cup of bleach with 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket (do NOT pour this on surface). Dip your deck brush in the bleach/water mix and use the bruch to scrub the stain in a circular motion. Rinse well and repeat if necessary.
    • Do NOT use full strength Bleach as a general cleaner - only use diluted bleach if the recommended cleaners (all-purpose cleaner or Dawn dish soap) do not work.
    • Do NOT use Hull Cleaner (Star-brite®, MaryKate® ON and Off™, West Marine® Instant Hull Cleaner™, etc.) since they are a strong acid which will ruin the Flex Dek™. RNR-Marine™ and Customer Marine Carpet, LLC are not liable for damage caused by cleaners or stains, such as blood.
