Palmetto Custom®: Started as a spin-off of hign-end boats by Sea-Pro® in 2002, Palmetto Custom® Boats, LLC was purchased from Sea-Pro® Inc. in January, 2005 by Brunswick®, Inc. Sea-Pro®, Sea Boss®and Palmetto Custom® were made part of Brunswick®'s Bluewater Marine Group® (division of Brunswick Saltwater Boat Group®) in 2007 along with Laguna® and Trophy®. Brunswick® Saltwater Boat Group boats were sold through MarineMax®, the largest marine products retailer in the United States at the time, as well as other select Brunswick® dealers. Laguna® and Trophy® boats were often built along-side the Sea-Pro®, Sea Boss® and Palmetto-Custom® hulls at the factory in Newberry, SC. On May 13, 2008, Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) announced that it would cease production of its Bluewater® Marine brands -- including Sea Pro®, Sea Boss®, Palmetto® and Laguna® -- with the upcoming 2009 model year, which commenced July 1. Based on its similairty to its sister Sea-Pro® brand, you may still find parts, support, owners and information at SEA-PRO-BOATS.com and SeaProForum.ProBoards.com.

Factory Original-Equipment-Manufacturer (OEM) Canvas for Palmetto Custom® boats: Our team patterned and manufactured the Factory Original-Equipment-Manufacturer (OEM) canvas for Palmetto Custom® center console and bay boats from 2002 to 2008.

We produce new canvas (diagram explaining what each piece of canvas is called) in Black or White Stamoid(r) or Sunbrella fabric. We often offer ANY color Stamoid(r) or Sunbrella to match your personal taste (these colors may not be available from the dealer). TAGS

For Ameritex® (Not Taylor-Made®, Boatswains®, Gioia® or Great Lakes®) factory Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) canvas, covers, tops and top frames: A laser-engraved, black rubber tag is sewn into every Ameritex® (we no longer make Taylor-Made® which have P/Ns starting with 4 or 6) original-equipment canvas or cover (a laser printed sticker is on each frame), and the only way we are able to manufacture the exact canvas, cover or frame specific to your boat is if you provide the part number (P/N) on that tag, so we will require the P/N (1xxxxxxxx , NO 4xxxxxx or 6xxxxx P/Ns), DT date code (dd/mm/yy , 2010+ only) AND A PHOTO of this Ameritex® Laser Printed Black Tag (or frame sticker) for each, individual Factory OEM canvas, cover or frame and WE WILL MAKE THIS EXACT PART NUMBER, so there are NO RETURNS, REFUNDS or EXCHANGES. 1) you have been informed of the potential modifications and 2) Ameritex®, Taylor-Made® and RnR-Marine™ are relieved of any issues related to fit. Our normal warranty for quality of workmanship and materials still stands.

Note: We no longer sell Palmetto Custom® factory OEM canvas or covers as of Fall 2013. Since the factory OEM canvas and covers are no longer available, we can make EXACT COPIES of YOUR existing Tops and Covers, but cannot copy any canvas with windows (yet) due to window shrinkage issues: https://RnR-Marine.com/purchase.php?product=Copy-Canvas-Covers-ang#Options. The Zippers on Factory OEM Palmetto Custom® canvas were size #8 (8mm high, 6 teeth/inch). Windows are made with Strataglass window material. Specifications, care and cleaning of Stamoid(r) or Sunbrella , Strataglass and other canvas materials are detailed below. In some cases (if the boat mfgr is out of business for example) you can upgrade the windows to Strataglass coated clear vinyl (approx. 50-60 percent more cost), however the standard Eisenglass (clear vinyl) will last for many years with proper care, cleaning and storage. We utilize our library of 1,000's of patterns to produce new, "made-to-order" Factory Original canvas for your Palmetto Custom® boat. This is the same canvas originally offered from the Palmetto Custom® Factory and sold by your local Palmetto Custom® dealer (local dealers may only go back 5 years or so however, and charge local sales tax, which we do not charge except in SC and FL). No other canvas manufacturer has these patterns or the ability to produce the exact factory Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) replacement canvas and covers that were offered from the Palmetto Custom® Factory when your boat was new.

- Zipper teeth sizes (or gauges) correspond to the width of the closed teeth in millimeters:
  - #8 gauge zippers have 8mm wide teeth and 6 teeth per inch and will NOT zip to #10 zippers,
  - #10 gauge zippers have 10mm wide teeth and 5 teeth per inch and will NOT zip to #8 zippers,

- Please note that after-market canvas makers often use the large #10 gauge zippers.
- Since it is very difficult to measure the zipper tooth width, the easiest way to measure zipper size is to count the number of teeth over 2 inches: a #8 zipper has 12 teeth over 2 inches and a #10 zipper has 10 teeth over 2 inches.

Since Palmetto Custom® is no longer in business and there are no longer any Palmetto Custom® dealers, RNR-Marine™ may be your only source for new (not new-old-stock) Factory Original-Equipment-Manufacturer (OEM) canvas and covers.

Additional Shade for Palmetto Custom® boats : When its hot you can never have enough shade. Our Boat Shade Kits (starting at Error processing SSI file

Folding T-Tops to fit Palmetto Custom® boats: Our T-Topless™ folding T-Top` fits most Palmetto Custom® bay boats. This top lowers (or removes) in less than 15 minutes to store your boat in your own garage or storage building/shed, potentially saving $1,000's per year in storage costs (or let you pass under a low bridge). The T-Topless™ folding T-Top is made of solid, yet lightweight, 1-inch diameter welded 316 Stainless Steel tubing with Sunbrella® canvas and install in an hour on the Stainless Steel windshield grab rails of Palmetto Custom® center console boats.

Our Factory OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) replacement canvas IS NOT "New Old Stock" (NOS) Canvas that has been sitting on the shelf for years.
We make Brand New Canvas Made TO ORDER using the original factory OEM patterns and the following material choices:
Marine Canvas choices (dependent on fabric offered by original boat manufacturer):
- 9.25 ounce (per square yard) 100% Solution Dyed Acrylic marine top fabric is a tough, water repellent (Fluorocarbon coated), UV resistant, color-fast (the acrylic fiber is dyed before the fabric is woven), breathable (will help keep things dry) woven fabric, manufactured by Glen Raven Mills in Anderson, SC, USA. Sunbrella® is available in a wide variety of colors. The name Sunbrella® is synonymous with the finest outdoor fabric in the world. Sunbrella® withstands sun, wind, and rain while remaining beautiful for years and is backed by a 10-year Limited Fabric Warranty. The water repellency of Sunbrella® can be improved by cleaning and applying "303 High Tech Fabric Guard" periodically. Sunbrella® was offered from the Factory for the OEM Canvas we make for most boat manufacturers, including: Sea Ray®, Boston Whaler®, Chaparral®, Sea-Pro®, Rinker®, Larson®, Grady White®, Regal® and many more. RNR-Marine™ offers all "Sunbrella® Marine Top Fabric" colors (boat dealers may only have black), including popular Black, Captain Navy, Marine Blue, Mediterranean Blue Tweed, Pacific Blue, Forest Green, Logo Red, Jockey Red, Dubonnet Tweed, Linen, Linen Tweed, Toast Tweed, Silver, Beige and many more. To insure consistencey and avoid mis-matches, the factory original colors may only be offered for many boat manufcaturers. - waterproof Sunbrella®, developed by Haartz® engineers who have expertly waterproofed Sunbrella®, the premier woven acrylic fabric, by undercoating the Sunbrella® fabric with a textured marine grade vinyl. SeaMark® offers the best of both worlds - a beautiful, colorfast fabric with the added durability of vinyl. This "acrylic vinyl" 16 oz./sq.yd. fabric has superior seam and tensile strength, backed by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty, and is available in many Sunbrella® solid and tweed colors. SeaMark® was offered exclusively or as a factory upgrade option for OEM Top Canvas on many Sea Ray®, Boston Whaler®, Formula®, Chaparral®, Rinker® and Regal® convertible, bimini, sunshade and camper tops for example. Not all colors may be available for every canvas product. Colors will appear differently on your monitor than the actual fabric application.
- waterproof PVC coated, polyester reinforced vinyl "Top" fabric is a slick, semi-shiny, durable, non-breathable, 60% higher cost fabric, backed by a 5-year Limited Fabric Warranty. Although Stamoid® is made in a variety of colors, we typically offer only white (Ivory for Grady White®), as used on many yachts.
- Some of our Factory OEM canvas was offered in Recacril® 9 oz./sq.yd. Solution Dyed Acrylic marine fabric manufactured by Recasens® USA. as selected by the boat manufacturer. Recacril® is a 100% solution dyed, 9 ounce (per square yard) acrylic fabric for marine and outdoor use. It has a Flurocarbon/Resin coating to repel water and offer excellent UV resistance and is woven in over 50 solid colors and over 80 stripes, although only a limited selection of solid colors are offered for our marine canvas. In some cases, Recacril® is no longer offered for factory OEM replacement canvas, curtains or covers, and a similar (not exact shade in some cases) color Sunbrella® fabric is used as a replacement.
- (Herculite®) Regatta® vinyl-laminated polyester yacht fabric is slick, semi-shiny, durable, non-breathable, waterproof canvas (~7.5oz per Sq Yd) fabric, backed by a 5-year Limited Fabric Warranty. We offer Weblon® in ANY "Weblon® Yacht Fabric" color: White, Ivory, Black, White-top/Mist-Blue-bottom, White-top/Driftwood(gray)-bottom, White-top/Foam-Green-bottom, Ivory-top/Sand-bottom & Burgundy-top/White-bottom. Not all colors may be available for every canvas product. Colors will appear differently on your monitor than the actual fabric application.
- Some of our Factory OEM canvas is offered in ClimaShield® Plus fabric as offered by the boat manufacturer. ClimaShield® Plus is woven with Dowco®'s Color-Lok® polyester yarn (solution dyed so the fibers that make the threads are individually dyed) to provide superior fade resistance, product longevity and durability. Inclusion of water-resistant anti-microbial coatings make this fabric resistant to the growth of mildew. pigmented vinyl coated (always white vinyl on the inside), 9oz./sq.yd. 2-ply polyester fabric with a 5 year manufacturer's limited warranty, commercially offered in a variety of colors.
- Some of our Factory OEM canvas is available only in the original, white Aqualon® fabric that was offered by the boat manufacturer. Aqualon® is a pigmented vinyl coated (always white vinyl on the inside), 9oz./sq.yd. 2-ply polyester fabric with a 5 year manufacturer's limited warranty, commercially offered in a variety of colors.
- acrylic-coated 100% woven polyester 11.5 ounces (per square yard) fabric (600 denier) is made by MarChem® CFI in New Haven, MO, USA using a proprietary process to coat both the top and bottom, thus allowing the fabric to be completely reversible. Water repellect Top Gun™ fabric is characterized by excellent strength, durability, tear and abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, UV and mildew resistance, and is backed by a 5-year Limited Fabric Warranty. We offer Top Gun™ in very few applications.
- Vinyl ... Some of our aftermarket Tops and Factory OEM canvas are offered in marine grade Vinyl fabric. Proposition 65 is a California law intended to protect consumers in the state of California from exposure to certain chemicals that may be harmful. The law requires that businesses notify Californians prior to sale if a product contains certain chemicals. The law also requires that the manufacturer label the product with a warning. Vinyl often contains the chemical Diisononyl Phthalate (DINP) which is on the list of chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. DINP belongs to a family of chemicals commonly added to plastics to make them flexible (products such as garden hoses, athletic shoes, automobile and marine seating). Exposure occurs through ingestion, inhalation and, to a lesser extent, dermal contact. While such products are perfectly safe to use in their intended manner, the law still requires that we warn Californians of the presence of the chemical.
- RNR-Marine™ recommends cleaning your canvas or cover to maintain its original beauty and increase longevity.
Covers are made of a fabric with a weave that can "breathe" to prevent mold and mildew. Vinyl or vinyl coated fabric, such as Weblon®, Stamoid®, Top Gun® or SeaMark® are not recommended for covers, since the material does not breathe to ventilate the covered space. We offer covers (depending on boat manufacturer) in one or more of the following fabrics:
- Solution Dyed 100% Acrylic 9.5 oz./sq.yd. marine fabric is used for Console-Covers, OEM Seat-Covers, OEM Leaning-Post-Covers, Bow Covers, Cockpit Covers and Mooring Covers. This durable, 9.5 ounce per square yard fabric is colorfast and mildew resistant, and is backed by the Sunbrella® 10-year Limited Fabric Warranty. Sunbrella® is the premium cover fabric in our opinion, since it is tough, breathes and the fabric is woven with solution dyed acrylic fibers, which last longer than polyester and retain colors extremely well. Sunbrella® is made in the US (Anderson, SC) by Glenn Raven Mills®, and is offered for all of our Factory OEM canvas and covers, as well as our Carver® after-market Custom-Fit™, Styled-To-Fit™ Boat Covers and Bimini Tops.
- 100% Solution Dyed 9 oz./sq.yd. Polyester fabric (in Grey, Tan, Navy Blue or Black) is used for TTopCovers® T-Top/Hard-Top Boat Covers and T-Top Center Console Storage Curtains. Top-Notch® Elite® is breathable, reversible, water repellent, UV resistant, dimensionally stable (won't sag or stretch) and mildew resistant. Because the yarn is solution dyed, color fastness is very good. Top-Notch Elite® is backed by a 5-year Limited Fabric Warranty.
- 100% Solution Dyed 8 oz./sq.yd. Polyester fabric (in Navy Blue or Black) is used for T-Top Boat Covers and T-Top Center Console Storage Curtains. Weathermax-80® is 100% solution dyed polyester incorporating UV resistant characteristics for long-term color and strength retention along with excellent breathablity and abrasion resistance. The HydroMAX® finish raises the bar of hydrostatic performance and delivers unsurpassed water repellency, mildew and oil resistance without relying on environmentally unfriendly coating compounds. WeatherMAX® has anti-microbial properties and a minimum UV resistance of 1000 hours but only weighs 8.0 oz. per square yard due to the use of a filament rather than a spun yarn like acrylic fabrics. Excellent for anything from horse blankets to tough outerwear to marine grade tarps. WeatherMAX® is backed by a 5-year Limited Fabric Warranty.
- heavy duty, 600-denier, 7.6oz./sq.yd. solution dyed, marine grade polyester fabric with a 100% polyurethane finish coating with a is used for Carver® Custom-Fit™, Styled-To-Fit™ Trailerable and Over-Top Boat Covers, Universal Seat-Covers and Universal Leaning-Post Covers. 100% Solution Dyed polyester means Sun-DURA® colors are part of the polyester fiber itself, rather than the dye adhering only to the surface of the fibers. 7.6 ounce per square yard marine grade polyester offers superior resistance to harmful UV rays, fading, mildew, tearing and overall wear-and-tear. Carver®'s own unique finish provides exceptional water repellency while maintaining breathability for the health of the boat. Made in USA by Glen Raven Mills® (North Carolina manufacturer of Sunbrella®) for Carver® Industries. Carver® Sun-DURA® is backed by a 7 Year Limited Warranty.
- Black Resilience™ is a proprietary tough, black or white stretchy fabric (like Spandex) with a quadruple coating on the outside to reflect the sun to keep things cool beneath. We use Resilience™ on our T-Top-Storage-Bonnet (1-Year Limited Warranty) and T-Top-Dry-Stack-Covers (3-Year Limited Warranty). This is the same fabric made for the US Government to cover fuel storage tanks in the desert to keep them cool. The Limited Warrnty on these products includes free repair for any damage caused by poor workmanship (excludes abuse).
- Some of our Factory OEM canvas is offered in ClimaShield® Plus fabric as offered by the boat manufacturer. ClimaShield® Plus is woven with Dowco®'s Color-Lok® polyester yarn (solution dyed so the fibers that make the threads are indvidualy dyed) to provide superior fade resistance, product longevity and durability. Inclusion of water-resistant anit-microbial coatings make this fabric resistant to the growth of mildew. pigmented vinyl coated (always white vinyl on the inside), 9oz./sq.yd. 2-ply polyester fabric with a 5 year manufacturer's limited warranty, commercially offered in a variety of colors.
- Poly/Cotton Duck ... 50/50 polyester/cotton "Duck" fabric (from Dutch "doek") is a heavy, plain woven blended fabric offering the advantages of both cotton and polyester fibers blended in one fabric. Cotton is a fully breathable fabric, which helps prevent mold and mildew in your boat. However, as the thickness increases, the breathability decreases. 100% cotton tends to rip and wear out easily, depending on the weave. Cotton canvas is a very durable and abrasion-resistant fabric, but it can be very thick and heavy. Polyester does not breathe, but it is very elastic and therefore tends to be very tear resistant. However, it is not as abrasion-resistant as cotton canvas. Poly/Cotton blend fabrics combine the strengths of the two fibers. Poly/cotton fabric is breathable, tear-resistant, and can be fashioned into abrasion-resistant fabrics, like canvas. We make many older Factory OEM Mooring Covers (to order) in Grey #6 weight (13oz per 36"x22" piece) 50/50 Poly/Cotton Duck fabric.
- Vinyl ... Some of our Factory OEM covers are available in marine grade Vinyl fabric. open weave vinyl covered polyester "Standard Mesh Solids" fabric (very breathable) is used on Gear-Nets and Mesh Windshield-Covers. Although there are a wide variety of Phifertex® colors, most Gear-Nets and Windshield-Covers are Black, Grey or White.
Visors, Connectors, Spray-Shields, Enclosures, Side-Curtains, Aft-Curtains and Gull-Wings are typically made with a combination of canvas (above) and either:
- Flat, extruded 30-mil (0.030" thick, often called "30ga" or "30 gauge") clear, marine grade vinyl (often called "Eisenglass" or "Isinglass") as specified by the boat manufacturer. Proposition 65 is a California law intended to protect consumers in the state of California from exposure to certain chemicals that may be harmful. The law requires that businesses notify Californians prior to sale if a product contains certain chemicals. The law also requires that the manufacturer label the product with a warning. - premium, flexible Urethane-coated poly-vinyl-chloride (PVC) sheet "glass" (60% higher cost) engineered to be ultra clear and resistant to the damaging effects from the sun's rays, environmental fallout and scratching from handling. It also blocks out the UltraViolet (UV) spectrum of light (90% UVA, 99% UVB, 99% UVC). Read more about Strataglass® advantages. Strataglass® is available in 20-mil (0.020"), 30-mil (aka 30ga = 0.030" thick), 40-mil (0.040") or 60-mil (0.060" = ~1/16") thickness. The 40-mil is available in a clear, light smoke or dark smoke tint, which is a special order (adds another 10% to the cost and 2 more weeks). We recommend 30-mil for fishing boats, since the thicker vinyl is hard to roll up offshore. Yachts may use 40-mil or 60-mil (even more costly) when the vinyl is seldom (if ever) rolled. Strataglass® claims a 5 year life expectancy (care & exposure dependent), but notes that many yacht owners see 10 or more years of use with proper care.
- RNR-Marine™ recommends cleaning and removing all clear-vinyl prior to trailering, to avoid the harmful efects of rocks, bugs and oils on the vinyl!
